Bidding Adieu
Symantec President and Vice Chairman Gary Bloom will leave the company before the end of the month, planning to take a break from the high-tech industry after about 25 years in the business. Symantec to Deliver Next-Gen Consumer Security Service for Windows
The newest direction for Symantec is a next-generation security service for Windows Vista and Windows XP to continuously protect consumers as they use the Web. Scheduled for release this fall, the service, which is code named Genesis, will give home users up-to-date security protection against the most common threats. The service integrates Norton’s security and PC tune up technology and also provides online backup technology. Symantec has added patent-pending technology to protect against the latest Internet threats including crimeware, phishing and fraudulent web sites, to protect users and they do online shopping and banking. Symantec Q3 Earnings Rise 5 Percent Due to Record Deals and Robust Demand
Symantec announced sold growth in earnings at the close of its third quarter for fiscal year 2006. GAAP revenue for the December 2005 quarter was $1.149 billion and non-GAAP revenue was $1.253 billion. On a non-GAAP basis, revenue grew five percent over the December 2004 quarter's combined non-GAAP revenue of $1.192 billion.
